SAFI emerges from the competition with innovative solutions that respond to the need for productivity. Over 30 years of Research & Development are behind robust, reliable software programs. Designed with state-of-the-art languages and compilers, all SAFI’s programs feature sophisticated, user-friendly graphical interfaces.

The concept of a fully-integrated structural software platform is the philosophy behind all SAFI’s products. The integration of the various applications offers tremendous advantages and improves productivity. SAFI pushes the boundaries, year after year, and the design programs are continuously upgraded with new functions and features.

Finding better solutions for the industry is SAFI’s main goal. The projects vary greatly, but the need for state-of-the-art processing of design information is a common denominator. The Virtual Technologies developed by SAFI master an integrated process of analysis, structural evaluation, rehabilitation, design of members and connections, and detailing and fabrication.

With this goal in mind, SAFI guides its innovative R&D work with the ultimate vision of creating world class technologies for structural engineering where virtual technologies provide a solution for the interoperability problems in the construction industry. Consulting engineering services can also be provided in partnership with an affiliated company, StructureTech Network.

Bridge Structural Engineering

BSE BRIDGE is a fully integrated analysis and design platform for bridge engineers. The program performs advanced structural analysis and design of steel, steel-composite, and pre- and post-tensioned concrete bridges.

BSE BRIDGE allows analyzing, verifying, evaluating and designing 2D and 3D bridge models of any type and size subject to standard or non-standard live loads. BSE BRIDGE performs multiple simultaneous and non-simultaneous live loads analyses with simple and complex trajectories. The program includes a comprehensive library of 25 standard trucks and a live load editor for user-defined trucks and trains.

BSE BRIDGE is a robust, reliable structural software platform based on over 30 years of Research & Development. Designed with state-of-the-art technology, BSE BRIDGE features a sophisticated, user-friendly graphical interface and is used worldwide in the production work for innovative bridge structures.

The following publications showcase the full potential of BSE BRIDGE.

Catenary Cable explains how BSE BRIDGE handles the strong geometrical non-linearity of cable structures and the nonlinear large-displacement analysis needed to determine their final equilibrium configuration. image #1
Spatial Objects are used to model non-structural attachments and to automatically apply the resultants of concentrated, pressure and wind loads to structural elements. image #2

The mechanical properties of Built-Up Sections are calculated with a special finite-element subroutine. Two types of crane beams and multiple types of open and tubular reinforced sections are available.

Most structural analysis programs ignore restrained warping in the analysis of torsion of thin-walled open sections. BSE BRIDGE considers combined Torsion and Warping in determining stiffness of members and limit states.

image #4
IFC Integration enables importing model information from a variety of architectural and structural programs. image #5

When working with trusses or shell elements, Integration Lines connect the centers-of-gravity of the assembly for automatic evaluation of forces and moments on the cutting planes.

image #6
Stress Distributions are calculated automatically by finite-element analysis at any point along the member. image #7

The analysis of Highway Sign Structures includes simple panels, reinforced panels, variable message signs (VMS) and walkways.

BSE BRIDGE allows specifying Member End Releases on all six degrees-of-freedom and assigning partial end fixity by means of rigidity ratios or the actual stiffness of the connection.

image #9
Notional Loads are added to frame members to generate P-delta effects related to geometry imperfections, tolerances in verticality, zones of partial yielding and residual stresses. image #10

The Concrete Slab Design Assistant allows quick generation of design strips for complex geometries of concrete slabs.
